Praying For And About The Mainstream Media
Father God, thank you for listening to my complaints of frustration and exasperation. Thank You for Your Holy Spirit who brings to mind everything that Jesus said. Praise You Jesus! Praise You and thank You for the all-encompassing comfort of the Holy Spirit.
Father God, please shut up the MSM. Do something—anything—to shut them up. Make them stop lying, inciting hate, attacking the President, and putting our national security at risk.
God, please make their equipment malfunction, bankrupt their networks, give them all laryngitis, I don’t know (!) there are a million ways that You know that I can’t even think of. Who but You God, Who but You can put pools in the desert? Who even thinks to defeat enemies with pools in the desert?
Oh God please convict their hearts of the intense wrong they are perpetuating on the United States, the conflict, division, hatred, and lies! Convict them of their own hatred. Convict them of how utterly foolish and ridiculous they appear.
And please Jesus, please protect every ear that hears a single word they say, and every eye that sees a single word they write. Give their readers, hearers, and people stuck in the airport, wisdom and understanding and perception so that they know beyond a shadow of a doubt that these leftist media people are propagandists, corrupt and full of deception.
And God, in obedience to You, I pray that You give these people the knowledge of Jesus Christ. Speak the light of Jesus Christ into their hearts so that they may know Him as their Lord and Savior. Let them come to know You as their loving and merciful Father and live out their lives in obedience to You, helping others, promoting harmony, and telling the truth.
Jesus, after You appeared to Paul and brought Him to salvation, You said to Ananias, who didn’t trust Paul because of the evil he had perpetuated on followers of Christ, “For I will show him how much he must suffer for the sake of my name” (Acts 9:16). Father, I can pray for these people in full confidence only because of what Your Word says. Knowing Your rain falls on the just and the unjust, and that You do not call perfect people, but work sanctification in each of us.
Oh God, help me to love these people as You do. I pray for and care about their souls out of obedience to Your Word. Certainly, they are languishing with depression, bitterness, and feelings of abject failure. Make me more like Jesus, and help me to really love and care about the mainstream media people who have wrought such terror and lies upon America. I confess with a heavy heart that I am not there yet. Thank You Father God for working sanctification in me too.
In the Name of Jesus, Amen.
Inspiration For Praying For And About The Mainstream Media
On August 16, 2019, my frustration and disdain for the mainstream media’s incessant slander, lies, and utter recklessness spiked to an all-time high. I blurted out “God, please shut up the MSM. Do something—anything—to shut them up. Make them stop lying, inciting hate, attacking the President, putting our national security at risk.”
Full disclosure and confession—the prayer probably didn’t sound that nice.
Then I added something that only shows up when my inner-Gideon, or Jonah east of Nineveh, comes out—“Please God, give me a sign that You are defeating these people.”
I continued praying with an all-time favorite account of God defeating enemies.
According to 2 Kings 3, King Jehoram, who ruled over the Northern Kingdom of Israel, convinced the King of Judah and the King of Edom to go out against the King of Moab with him. Unfortunately, the unwise Jehoram devised the battle plan and the three kings found themselves in a bit of a quandary.
So the king of Israel went with the king of Judah and the king of Edom. And when they had made a circuitous march of seven days, there was no water for the army or for the animals that followed them. 10 Then the king of Israel said, “Alas! The LORD has called these three kings to give them into the hand of Moab.” 11 And Jehoshaphat said, “Is there no prophet of the LORD here, through whom we may inquire of the LORD?” Then one of the king of Israel’s servants answered, “Elisha the son of Shaphat is here, who poured water on the hands of Elijah.” 12 And Jehoshaphat said, “The word of the LORD is with him.” So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat and the king of Edom went down to him. 2 Kings 3:9-12
So, the three kings visit the great prophet Elisha, and he gives them a word from the LORD.
And Elisha said, “Thus says the LORD, ‘I will make this dry streambed full of pools.’ 17 For thus says the LORD, ‘You shall not see wind or rain, but that streambed shall be filled with water, so that you shall drink, you, your livestock, and your animals.’ 18 This is a light thing in the sight of the LORD. He will also give the Moabites into your hand, 19 and you shall attack every fortified city and every choice city, and shall fell every good tree and stop up all springs of water and ruin every good piece of land with stones.” 20 The next morning, about the time of offering the sacrifice, behold, water came from the direction of Edom, till the country was filled with water. 2 Kings 3:16-20
By this time, the Moabites had gotten word about the Kings of Judah, Israel, and Edom so they went out to the border to fight against them.
And when they rose early in the morning and the sun shone on the water, the Moabites saw the water opposite them as red as blood. 23 And they said, “This is blood; the kings have surely fought together and struck one another down. Now then, Moab, to the spoil!” 24 But when they came to the camp of Israel, the Israelites rose and struck the Moabites, till they fled before them. And they went forward, striking the Moabites as they went. 2 Kings 3:22-24
At this point, Moab is utterly defeated.
Back To My Morning Request For Enemy Defeat
“God, please unplug their networks, give them all laryngitis, I don’t know (!) there are a million ways that You know that I can’t even think of. Who but You God, Who but You can put pools in the desert? Who even thinks to defeat enemies with pools in the desert? Please God, show me something. Give me a sign that You are defeating these people.”
You know how it is when prayers like this are blurted out. God listens. He lets us get things off our chest, cool down. The Holy Spirit reminds us how small the problem is in the grand scheme of things. He reminds us of the worldly nature and weakness of mainstream media leftists. And it all brings about the comfort that only God can give (2 Corinthians 1:3-7).
Later On That Same Day…
While I went about the business of the day, Rush Limbaugh, with his brains tied behind his back, waxed eloquently in the background. His discussion centered around President Trump’s rally in New Hampshire the night before. Sometime between 11:50-12:15, and almost as an afterthought, he added this:
Here’s another thing to keep in mind. We’ve had 2-1/2 years of literal hatred that is disguised as media reporting on Donald Trump without a day off. For 2-1/2 years, every media organization in this country except for Fox News (and, of course, us) has devoted its existence to ginning up hatred for Donald Trump.
How do you think they feel when they see 12,000 people inside, five or 6,000 more outside? When they watch a Trump rally and they look at the love and they look at the excitement and they look at the general great time everybody is having? Do you think they don’t have doubts? After 2-1/2 years of hate and there’s still people out there that love Trump? I guarantee you they’ll feel like failures. And they’ll never admit it to you but do not doubt me. And they’ll gut it up for next day’s broadcast, but I guarantee you.
Individually, take your favorite pick of any name at CNN, any name at MSNBC. Imagine them watching a Trump rally and I guarantee you they’re as depressed as they can be and feel like failures, because (impression), ‘There’s so many people that love Trump and they’re still showing up! And there are more people showing up at a Trump rally than any Democrat rally. And we love the Democrats, and we’re promoting the Democrats, and we’re trying to destroy Trump!” Yet they’re seeing the evidence of failure at every rally.
I’m here to tell you that they take it personally and it depresses them individually, and probably in some of their editorial meetings they’ll talk about this. They’ll do it in a way that mocks a Trump rally attendee. “Will you look at those hicks! Can you believe how stupid these people are? We’ve tried to tell them! We’ve tried to tell them what a reprobate this guy is. Now the guy wants to buy Greenland? Holy smokes! What a bunch of idiots.” But privately? Privately they think they are failing because by now everybody should hate Donald Trump.
Oh my goodness! Who thought about depressed? Who thought about feeling like failures? I tell you Who thought about it–God did. The arrogance that seethes from these mainstream media people—who knew it? Depressed! Failures! They take Trump’s popularity personally—as their personal failure(!). Who would have thought of that?
God! That’s Who. God thought of it.
God gave every person working in mainstream media a conscience. Like muscles, it must be exercised. And when it is not, also like muscles, it becomes weak (think of all a weak conscience leads to, i.e. guilt, arrogance, lack of integrity, yep! the shoe fits!). And this is how their unfit consciences manifest themselves—depression (hatred turned inward) and feelings of abject, personal failure.
The corrupt and hateful mainstream media actors have negative feelings because of their intense, never-ending lies and slander. These negative feelings turned inward are unbearable to such arrogant psyches. Therefore, they are turned outward toward Trump and his supporters. Such a telltale sign! Can’t believe I missed it.
Who would have thought about defeating enemies like this?
Our Father God, that’s Who!
Two Sides To Every Fleece
God doesn’t always put out the fleece for me by any means. But He does surprise me from time to time.
However, God usually shows the flip side of a fleece as well—He knows these corrupt and bitter humans beings need prayer.
Me: Honestly? Ugh! “Now, God, let’s not get carried away.”
And the Holy Spirit brings to remembrance all that Jesus said (John 14:26).
You have heard the law that says, ‘Love your neighbor’ and hate your enemy. 44 But I say, love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you! 45 In that way, you will be acting as true children of your Father in heaven. For he gives his sunlight to both the evil and the good, and he sends rain on the just and the unjust alike. Matthew 5:43-45, NLT
And my day was going so great for a few minutes. I am honestly repulsed by the behavior of the mainstream media! But the conviction of “you will be acting as true children of your Father in heaven…”!
And the Holy Spirit continues:
When we tell you these things, we do not use words that come from human wisdom. Instead, we speak words given to us by the Spirit, using the Spirit’s words to explain spiritual truths. 14 But people who aren’t spiritual can’t receive these truths from God’s Spirit. It all sounds foolish to them and they can’t understand it, for only those who are spiritual can understand what the Spirit means. 15 Those who are spiritual can evaluate all things, but they themselves cannot be evaluated by others. 1 Corinthians 2:13-15, NLT
But their inability and/or unwillingness to understand or to grant equal freedom of expression is the literal Merriam-Webster textbook description of intolerance and bigotry.
The Holy Spirit presses in:
For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. 17 God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him. 18 “There is no judgment against anyone who believes in him. But anyone who does not believe in him has already been judged for not believing in God’s one and only Son. 19 And the judgment is based on this fact: God’s light came into the world, but people loved the darkness more than the light, for their actions were evil. John 3:16-19, NLT
The fundamental mission of Christianity is to proclaim the Good News, to seek and save the lost. The corrupt and deceptive mainstream media people would never listen to me, but I can pray. And they will listen to the Holy Spirit if the winds ever blow their way—and that is totally up to God.
Being obedience to God is up to me, including praying for the lost souls of people I do not like.
