Rock Of Ages, Cleft For Me

As another year comes to an end and time marches forward, we can count on the LORD who does not change (Malachi 3:6), the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable (Isaiah 40:28).

Asking Jesus to help us stand firm in Him as we face what is certain to be a year of chaos and slander. Prayer from the famous hymn “Rock of Ages” written by Augustus Toplady, 1776.

Rock of Ages,

cleft for me,
Let me hide myself in Thee;
Let the water and the blood,
From Thy wounded side which flowed,
Be of sin the double cure,
Save from wrath and make me pure.

Not the labor of my hands
Can fulfill Thy law’s demands;
Could my zeal no respite know,
Could my tears forever flow,
All for sin could not atone;
Thou must save, and Thou alone.

Nothing in my hand I bring,
Simply to Thy cross I cling;
Naked, come to Thee for dress;
Helpless, look to Thee for grace;
Foul, I to the fountain fly;
Wash me, Savior, or I die.

While I draw this fleeting breath,
When my eyes shall close in death,
When I rise to worlds unknown,
And behold Thee on Thy throne,
Rock of Ages, cleft for me,
Let me hide myself in Thee.

In the Name of Jesus, my rock and my salvation, my fortress, in Whom I shall never be shaken (Psalm 62:6), Amen.
