Pray For God’s Help As We “Go Out” Not Knowing Where We Are Going

By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to a place that he was to receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going. Hebrews 11:8

Prayer

Eternal God and Father of all Mercies,

Answer our cry and send divine help for You are “our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble” (Psalm 46:1).

As a new year begins, our nation gasps for breath, tyrannized beneath the weight of a heavy and condescending darkness. The father of all lies has once again perpetrated great deception and unmitigated evil against our citizens and against justice. Brainwashing threatens the nation’s pillars. Blindness threatens objectivity and tolerance. Despotism threatens freedom. Injustice and partiality destroy law and order. Scam and corruption have repressed the suffrage of we the people.

Though the current obscurity, gloom, blindness, isolation, unawareness, ignorance, shadiness, and ungodliness are beyond our experience, Your light shines in whatever form the darkness may take. And darkness has not overcome it (John 1:5), nor is it possible for darkness to overcome Your light!

Almighty God, You have been our strength and shield since our Founding, through opulent times, and through turbulent times. And now, even as our nation walks through the valley of the shadow of death, let us fear no evil, for You are with us (Psalm 23:4).

Therefore, we thank You in advance for Your loyal love toward our nation as we are fully persuaded that You will deliver us from evil.

“You rescue the humble, but you humiliate the proud. You light a lamp for me. The LORD, my God, lights up my darkness” (Psalm 18:27-28). Lord God light up darkness for those who are ignorant of being in the darkness! Open eyes to see! Pour a spirit of truth over our nation! Let truth’s power shake loose the iron gates of indoctrination and propaganda so that prisoners may be set free!

Fit me for service with unwavering faith, the kind of faith counted as righteousness to Abraham “who obeyed when he was called to go out to a place that he was to receive as an inheritance. And when called, Abraham went out, not knowing where he was going” (Hebrews 11:8).

This call to go to a place “not knowing where I am going” (Hebrews 11:8) has been extended to our nation, Your people as the Body of Christ within the nation, and each of us personally. Even as the deep darkness of evil and deception, intolerance and arrogance surrounds us on all sides.

All-sufficient Lord and Loving Father, help us when we fumble in the darkness because we can’t see where we’re going, and when tempted to fret and fear because You haven’t revealed to us where we’re going. In both cases, we pray for courage, protection, strength, provision, favor, wisdom, and complete victory.

Father, send us help from Your dwelling place. “In times of trouble, may the LORD answer our cry. May the Name of the God of Jacob keep us safe from all harm” (Psalm 20:1).

Help us to be honest with ourselves while we seek to answer one of the most difficult questions of being a Christ follower: “What do you expect to do?” We don’t know what we are going to do. The only thing we know is that You, Father God, know what You are doing.

You have promised that all things work together for good for those who love You and are called according to Your purpose (Romans 8:28). By faith, we know and believe that You are faithful to Your promises.

Help us continually examine our attitude toward You, Lord, to see if we are willing to “go out” in every area of our life, trusting in You completely.

Help this attitude keep us in constant wonder, because we don’t know what You are going to do next.

Help each one of us each morning as we wake, to recognize the day as a new opportunity to “go out,” to exercise our faith and build our confidence in You.

What Satan intended for evil, You will turn it to good (Genesis 50:20) so that the faith of many will grow stronger and the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the hope of glory, will spread to those who live in darkness that they may see a Great Light.

God, regardless of how heavy the darkness may become, may the Holy Spirit uphold me to trust and rely on You LORD, for You will show me the way to go. For You alone are my Deliverer. “Teach me to do your will, for you are my God! Let your good Spirit lead me on level ground” (Psalm 143:10)!

Though the path ahead is uncertain, I know that You will never leave me nor forsake me.

And I trust that You will never leave nor forsake the United States, one nation under God, who has been a beacon of hope and light for so many, including Your chosen nation of Israel. Raise Your banner over us Lord God! Thank You for the victory!

Protect our nation and its great citizens in this time of instability, depravity, destruction, and oppression. Avenge us from the evildoers and deliver us unscathed from their boundless evil. Let the light of Jesus Christ overcome the darkness within them.

In the Name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
