Thank You God For Friday, June 24, 2022
Prayer
With hearts filled with gratitude, we praise You Sovereign Lord, who lavishes love, knowledge, wisdom, and perseverance upon His people.
“How precious to me are Your thoughts, O God, how vast is their sum! If I were to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand” (Psalms 139:17-18a).
Only You, our great and glorious Father, know the many people, prayers, and hours used to pray, intercede, and advocate on behalf of innocent babies. So many hearts You have stirred, prayers You have heard, and hours You have empowered. These too would outnumber the grains of sand.
Thank You for all those who have faithfully, fearlessly, and tirelessly defended the rights of the unborn over the past five decades.
Thank You for the Supreme Court Justices who stood up for our Constitutional Republic, and the inalienable rights of life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness for all American citizens.
Thank You for state legislators who labored over writing and passing laws to protect the unborn.
Thank You for attorneys and their many associates involved in making and presenting cases to all levels of courts. And ultimately, those who supported and appeared before the Supreme Court of the United States.
Thank You for Your people in America who are willing to stand up for justice and righteousness because of their love for Jesus Christ.
Thank You for America’s younger generation whose passion to uphold the sanctity of life is truly grace upon grace.
Thank You for technological advances that provide images and audio of the overwhelming mystery of precious and miraculous life in the womb. Use these to teach the minds and touch the hearts of those who are cold and callous toward life; those without hope and without God in the world (Ephesians 2:12).
And most of all, thank You for all the precious little lives that will now have the opportunity to live, to love, to change the world, and to know Christ. How can we thank You enough Oh Lord our God? For it was the empowerment of the Holy Spirit that brought about the multiple courageous acts of taking a stand for Christ and righteousness.
Your Word is eternal truth. The modern sights and sounds of ultrasounds confirm the Holy Spirit inspired writings of David so long ago:
13 For You formed my inmost being;
You knit me together in my mother’s womb.
14 I praise You,
for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
Marvelous are Your works,
and I know this very well.
15 My frame was not hidden from You
when I was made in secret,
when I was woven together
in the depths of the earth.
16 Your eyes saw my unformed body;
all my days were written in Your book
and ordained for me
before one of them came to be.
Psalm 139:13-16
Oh Jesus, You saw David’s unformed body. You watched as he was knit together. And You’ve watched billions throughout the course of history. But sadly, You’ve also watched millions, and perhaps billions, of little babies violently murdered in the womb, those still being woven together in secret. But their murder was not in secret. You saw their struggle to live, as doctors and nurses, under an oath to “care for people,” aided and abetted in the first-degree, intentional murder of a human. How do You contend with this evil? As Your people, how do we pray about the 63,000,000 babies killed in America alone? What is there to say? How do we pray when such sinister events render us speechless?
Thanks be unto You “the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us…” (Romans 8:26).
On this earth, yet again, “A voice is heard in Ramah, weeping and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children and refusing to be comforted, because they are no more” (Matthew 2:18).
In the earthly realm, we weep and mourn for those who are no more. But Scripture shows the heavenly realm, “Enoch walked with God; then he was no more, because God took him away” (Genesis 5:24). You took Enoch and he is with You. We find solace that innocent babies who are no more, though taken by the hands of evil men and women, are yet with You. Certainly, nothing in all Creation is better than being in Your Presence.
All unborn babies, though their lives were taken, still had bodies and souls. Along with us, they eagerly wait for their adoption as sons and daughters, and the redemption of their tortured little bodies (Romans 8;23).
Scripture says Elisha miraculously restored life to the Shunammite’s dead son. This giving of life to the dead, we embrace as a foreshadow of our Savior, the Son of God, the last Adam, a life-giving Spirit (1 Corinthians 8:45) in Whom we have believed, Who God raised from the dead, and through whom comes the resurrection of the dead for all who believe (Romans 8:31).
What a wonderful hope! Christ in us, the hope of glory (Colossians 1:27)! The hope of resurrection. “Knowing that He who raised the Lord Jesus will raise us also with Jesus and bring us with Him into His presence” (2 Corinthians 4:14).
One unimaginable day we will be at home with You. The unborn, innocent babies, adolescents, children, teenagers, elderly, every age in-between, Enoch, the Shunammite, her son, her husband, Elisha, all of Your people will be gathered up to our celestial home.
Heavenly Father, You are so good, more than we ever deserve. And here we are today, thanking You for yet another miracle of divine intervention.
Yes, Father, it is still light in Goshen while the Egyptian totalitarians sit in darkness. Sennacherib has returned to Assyria in confusion and has been assassinated by his sons. Haman is hanging on the gallows he built. Hitler is blown to smithereens in his own bomb shelter. The battle is won but the war rages on.
The Dobbs case is a great victory for Christ and His Body. Let us not grow complacent. For satan remains enraged and makes war with the rest of God’s children (Revelation 12:15) until he himself is aborted from earth, even as he was aborted from heaven.
Help us to stay vigilant in this day of evil as the enemies’ methods become increasingly heinous and immoral. Help us to stay awake for we know not when the thief will come.
But we do know this. We shall not fear. If Jesus should tarry, no matter the difficulty, we watch in eager expectation for Your faithfulness, for Creation to intervene, whether by a mighty river, a mighty angel, pools in the desert, or divinely appointed hornets.
With hearts filled with joy unsurpassable, we offer our praise to You for this historic day—June 24, 2022. Thank God for this Friday! Thank God for life!
With much gratitude we thank You for answering the prayers of millions and millions and millions of Your people.
But above all, “Not to us, O LORD, not to us, but to Your Name goes all the glory for your unfailing love and faithfulness” (Psalm 115:1).
In the Name of Jesus Who Came to give us life, Amen.
